Safehaven Marine deliver two pilot boats to the MVD Pilots association in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Safehaven Marine have launched ‘Ederra 6 & 7’, two new Interceptor 48 pilot boats for the MVD Pilots Association in Montevideo, Uruguay. The first of the two Interceptor 48's for the pilots was supplied in July with her sistership launched in October. Fitted with a new custom design sliding pilot boarding platform that can be set for different ship side to platform distance’s according to conditions. Powered by a pair of Volvo D13 500hp engines the pilot boats have an economical 25kt operational speed. Their main cabins feature a central helm position, are fully air conditioned and accommodate 7 pilots and crew all on suspension seating, with full live aboard facilities provided in a spacious forward accommodation for two crew. Both incorporate Safehaven's MOB recovery platform and special heavy impact area / boarding fender arrangement offering a high level of protection to the hull and limiting pilot ladder entrapment when alongside.
Ederra 6 & 7 are fully self-righting, able to recover from a capsize by a large breaking sea. The two pilot vessels represent Safehaven’s 3rd and 4th pilot boat supplied to Montevideo, following ‘Belgrano’ delivered to their compatriots in 2020, and represents Safehaven’s 52nd and 53rd pilot boat delivered globally.
